Now that I am cooking for two, preparing meals should be easier, but in fact they are more of a chore. Because my husband eats his main meal at lunch, he often does not want a full meal for dinner. He is happy to eat a bowl of cereal! One food that my husband and I really love is noodles.

There are some terrific meals in a box that don't really taste like it. The Banquet Homestyle Bakes Creamy Cheesy slow cooker chicken alfredo with rice is one my favorites. Priced at around $3 at an area Walmart, you can't beat it. The preparation is simple and it takes about 40-45 minutes to bake it once you've prepared in less than 5 minutes.



Canned hams may seem expensive at first, but when you see how far they go, you realize they're worth the money. A small canned ham, like Armour or Black Label, can be purchased for about $7 to $9. When you get home, cut most of the ham into slices for a couple different dinners, then save some and chunk it for omelets and other breakfast menus. Fry or bake ham slices and add a side dish of fruit and one of veggies. Bake cornbread or warm up dinner rolls to go chicken alfredo and broccoli it. You'll get two or three meals from one ham.

I have posted before about stocking up on items you use regularly when you find them on sale to save money. Also, if you happen to find better prices at stores other than grocery stores. Today I was at CVS and they had items such as Campbells cream of chicken and cream of chicken soup and stewed tomatoes for $0.77. So that is half off their regular price on the soup. Stovetop is $0.77 a box this week, the regular price at the grocery store is over $2.00.

For main courses, try the hamburgers and rolls routine. You could vary it the hot dogs and rolls, if you like. Call them Hip Hip slow cooker chicken alfredo Hooray Hot Dogs in keeping with the game theme. Remember the tailgate is at a location far from your backyard and it's about the game as well, so keep it simple. Alternatively, you could use the spicy hot chili or the grilled sausage for the main dish. The condiments you will need to pack with any of these are mustard, ketchup, mayo, pickles, relish, barbecue sauce, and olives.

Every working mother's schedule isn't going to be the same, but what is the same is the fact that we are mothers with families and we want to see our families nourish positively while not going insane ourselves. Being a mother isn't easy, and being a working mother, well, you get the picture! The number one thing I forgot myself while searching for that family balance was time management. At work you have to manage your time to get projects done effectively and with being a working mom, it's not really that different. Learning how to anticipate needs helps alleviate the "surprises" that our children and husbands seem to place before us. Planning ahead is a known life savior, and most of us know that, but most aren't sure how.
